A Letter from the Author
As I reflect in this season of my life, Jesus continues to encourage me not to lose heart and reminds me its OK to focus on me. I have sat quietly for many years with a fire in my heart but a hesitancy to share. My hesitancy is deeply rooted within a close companion of mine, Dyslexia.
Galatians 6:9-10
9 And let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
I am finally learning not to hide or deny my Dyslexia. What a journey it has been, a life full of distractions and challenges. I have learned that Dyslexia is not something to recover from or overcome but something to live alongside. It is my faith in Jesus Christ that has guided me through this journey. Jesus is always with me and supporting me when it seems no one else will or can. He has opened endless amounts of doors when others have been shut with me standing in the doorway. It is in reflecting on my experiences in life that I feel a strong pull to share and support a passion of mine which is to highlight the importance of Family & Community involvement in our children’s Faith Journey. Through my experiences as a teacher I have learned much and have been provided the opportunity to implement many different methods and techniques. I have come up with an eclectic form of presentations on how one may involve their children in faith and practice living it out in their own homes and faith communities to nurture healthy characteristics and habits of being. I feel God has given me this path that I have been traveling so that I may share what I have learned and provide others a small but genuine source of encouragement and support so that they may live and feel strong in their Christian beliefs.
I have had many teacher conferences during my career. Talking with parents has always been a big part of what I do. I both commend and respect parents who are putting their child first and are both invested and concerned enough about their child’s development to schedule a meeting with me to come and talk about it. I have enjoyed the opportunity to guide parents along their child’s academic journey with activities and techniques that can be done at home to grow and strengthen their child’s potential. As I near closer to retirement and I see the end of my daily classroom teaching career, I realize that this is not the end of my responsibilities as an educator dedicated to the success of our children.
With my ticket to retirement soon in hand I look to set forth on new travels. My path does not end here. I may veer a little but my focus is still on the development and betterment of our children. In this new venture I am not highlighting the academic path of children and instead I am focused on cultivating spiritual growth in children and guiding families on this journey.
It is my hope and prayer that these ideas and suggestions may provide you some support.
Galatians 3:26-29 NIV
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Many blessings,
Cheryl
